José Luís Mendonça Nunes, known as Zeca Mendonça, was, for more than 40 years, alongside all PSD presidents. Those who worked with him highlight, above all, his dedication to the party and loyalty to all presidents.
He became an employee of the PSD (then PPD) in 1974, when he joined the list of five thousand subscribers to the party's legalization.
He immediately started working, first as a security guard, at the invitation of João Inácio Simões de Almeida and, since 1977, as a press advisor, eventually leading the party's press office.
As a press adviser, Zeca Mendonça worked with 17 PSD presidents (including Leonardo Ribeiro de Almeida, who chaired the Political Commission when Francisco Sá Carneiro led the party), ending functions in the mandate of Pedro Passos Coelho.
At the PSD Congress in Espinho, in 2016, Zeca Mendonça received a standing ovation from the delegates, during a tribute to party officials.
In December 2017, he ended 43 years of professional connection to the PSD to reinforce Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa's advisory team, in the Presidency of the Republic.
He died at age 70 in March 2019.
