In 1869, a young man with the ambition of becoming a journalist witnesses the inauguration of the Suez Canal. Upon his return to Lisbon, he's challenged by DN founder, Eduardo Coelho, to publish a series of news stories.

He photographed the greatest events of his time. Thanks to his work we can see great moments of Portuguese History from the beginning of the 20th century

Pioneer and combative, Lamas was, alongside journalism, a strong proponent of the rights of women in Estado Novo.

Pêro Vaz Caminha witnessed – and reported to the Portuguese monarch – the discovery of Brazil. Guided by his mission to convey information, the scribe accompanying the fleet of navigator Pedro Alvares Cabral was one of the precursors of journalism.

Journalist, draughtsman, aquarellist, illustrator, decorator, political and social caricaturist, ceramist and professor, he is a pioneer and a big promoter of satire Journalism in Portugal.

His works included illustrations and cartoons. He was the author of comic books and the director of the magazine ABC a Rir, or the ABC of Laughter, a political and social satire magazine.
